So it’s no secret that black female entrepreneurs are my dream clients. Not my “only” clients, but my dream clients! And, it’s no secret that this little black copywriter is not afraid to say it.
It’s crazy because when I first started MK Copywriting, I never imagined black female entrepreneurs becoming, essentially, the focus of my brand. What’s even crazier, I had never even met another black female entrepreneur until just a few years ago.
Like I said, CRAZY.
No. This had nothing to do with my upbringing. A lack of diversity in school, outside activities, you name it, was not my struggle. I was always surrounded by my black and brown people. You know, “the culture.”
But, it wasn’t until I walked away from my dry 9-5 and took a leap of faith where I fully stepped into my own entrepreneurial journey.
Who knew closing one door meant opening so many others?
It also opened my eyes to see that there were so many hustlers, dream-chasers, ambitionists, other trailblazin’ black women that were just like me.
And, let’s just say birds of a feather
The story of how black female entrepreneurs became my dream clients actually goes much deeper than that (maybe in another thread).
There is a reason for everything we do….
Why we do it…
How we do it…
Who we do it for…
Sure we want to make money. Yet, our passions cause us to reach so much deeper than our pockets.
We want the world! IMO, I think we are more than deserving.
We are purposed. We are vocal about the things we care about. When something is on our mind, we speak it. Whether it be on social media or in our social circle — we have a voice. As a black copywriter, I always have an ear ready to hear it.
So, speak on your big ideas. Tell us your journey, sis. Let’s talk the transformations. Even the solutions. Show off that passion and expertise!
Let your products and services be your medium or the means by which you do it. But don’t let it outshine you and your story.
Because your story is what makes your brand.
And it is my job to tell that story through cohesive messaging and copy on the platform you proudly call your own.
